As spring begins to bloom and the weather gets warmer, spring sport athletes at the Community School of Davidson (CSD) return for another season with hopes to have a successful year. Sports such as baseball, lacrosse, women’s soccer, golf, track, men’s tennis and men’s volleyball are back for new opportunities.
Baseball
The JV baseball team consists of 11 total players including five freshmen, four sophomores and two juniors. The Varsity team consists of 18 total players, including four sophomores, eight juniors and five seniors. Both teams include three dual roster athletes.
The baseball team looks to have a big season and a successful one led by head coach Todd Greene and assistant Ike Gordon.
Aaron Rumfelt (‘29) said, “I am looking forward to bonding with my teammates and getting better at baseball throughout the season.”
Men’s Lacrosse
The lacrosse team consists of 41 total players, including 14 freshmen, 10 sophomores, 10 juniors and seven seniors. Led by CSD athletic director/coach John Bellissimo, the team awaits a big season and has high hopes to make a run.
Clark Kovacs (‘29) said, “I am excited to win the championship and bond with my teammates this season.”
Women’s Lacrosse
The women’s team consists of 20 total athletes including 6 seniors and 3 freshmen, coached in her first year by Christina Bellissimo
Women’s Soccer
The women’s soccer team consists of 17 total women playing, including 4 seniors.
Men’s Golf
The golf team consists of 10 players, including two freshmen, four sophomores, three juniors and one senior.
Men’s Tennis
The men’s tennis team consists of 11 total players including, no freshmen, five sophomores, three juniors and three seniors.
Track
The track team consists of 37 total players, including 13 freshmen, 10 sophomores, 10 juniors and four seniors.
Men’s Volleyball
The Men’s Volleyball team consists of no freshmen, two sophomores, five juniors and five seniors. This is the second season for this team playing at the club level as they look to come back strong.
