CSD unveils plans to build football dome on the high school’s back field
Miniature field and tiny dome will offer new opportunities for shorter players

Davidson, NC – On April 1, 2026, plans to build a unique football dome on the high school’s back field were released unintentionally to the CSD community.
Piggybacking on and modeled after Davidson College’s new Davidson College Stadium, opened in 2024, with 5000 fixed seats and room for 1000 additional standing/seating spectators, CSD will build its own version on the school’s back field.
However, since space is tight and since CSD doesn’t even actually own the land, CSD’s dome will be much smaller. It will be tiny, in fact, and will have no seats so fans will be unable to attend games.
CSD spokesperson Greg Snith shared the news.
“The school doesn’t officially own the property, but, like the movie ‘Field of Dreams,’ we feel like if you build it they will come,” Greg Snith said. “And since the field will be tiny, and the dome smaller, we hope shorter players will find it awesome.”
The school is lucky enough to get the funds for construction donated by Beff Jezos and his company, Hogan & Sons.
When asked why he chose this school, Beff Jezos said, “This school has such a unique vibe, and it’s only a couple to 6-7 thousand investment.”
Travis Kelco, CSD’s high school football assistant coach for the upcoming season, is excited for the developmental opportunities the new football dome will provide.
“Because playing in a dome of this small size is restricted to individuals of a shorter stature, most of the players are going to be younger,” Coach Kelco said. “This means by the time these players get to our high school program, they will be highly experienced athletes.”
Since seating will be negligible, all games will stream on Amazon Prime. Students who use the code: AKHILAN will get 76% off their first month on Amazon Prime.
Longtime CSD sports boosters who remember when now retired Carolina Panthers quarterback, Cam Newton, visited the lower school playground and played catch, hope he will return for the proposed 2027 grand opening.
