Disclaimer:
In an effort to make stories more interactive, to encourage readers to think more broadly and see/understand different perspectives, and through the encouragement and recommendation of the North Carolina Scholastic Media Association (NCSMA), many stories use hyperlinks. The appearance of hyperlinks does not constitute endorsement by the Community School of Davidson or the Spartan Sentinel or individual student journalists or the information, products, or services contained therein. The Community School of Davidson and the Spartan Sentinel do not exercise any editorial control over the information you may find at these locations. Such links are provided consistent with the stated purpose of this website.
Podcasting:
The Spartan Sentinel staff believes that podcasting is a relevant and increasingly important educational media source both for student journalists and listeners, however, the views and opinions expressed represent the personal opinions of student journalists and guests and are not official statements of Community School of Davidson.
Obituaries:
The Spartan Sentinel staff acknowledges the fact that the passing of individuals in the school community is both saddening and hard for all those whose lives the individual has touched and affected. The Spartan Sentinel journalists therefore practice utmost sensitivity and care when covering such events and other sensitive topics and believe it is important to respect the individual by chronicling and honoring their life.
Corrections:
The Spartan Sentinel staff understand the importance of tightly edited and factually correct stories. However, staff understands mistakes happen. If you come across an error in a story, be it grammatical, content or otherwise, please email staff or comment on the story at the bottom of the page. Student journalists will fix the issue promptly so that readers have the best reading experience possible.
Artificial Intelligence:
The Spartan Sentinel staff recognizes Artificial Intelligence has jumped into the day-to-day of media at all levels, including high school journalism. While student journalists may choose to use AI for research, they are responsible for verifying facts with additional sources, and all stories on the Spartan Sentinel are student-produced and written.
