On Friday, September 12, 2025, the Community School of Davidson (CSD) varsity football team traveled north of Winston-Salem to King, North Carolina, for a Friday night matchup against West Stokes High School that proved to be a dominant performance for the Spartans.
The win, the first of the season for the Spartans, stopped a three game losing streak, with the previous two games against South Mecklenburg and Forest Hills, coming at home under the lights at Spartan Park.
New Spartans quarterback, Ty Sigler (‘27), helped the Spartans big time, becoming a nominee for Player of the Week after the win against West Stokes. Sigler threw for 254 passing yards and three touchdown passes to help the Spartans secure a 35-0 win.
Just one week earlier, on September 5, 2025, under the lights at Spartan Park against Forest Hills High School from Marshville, North Carolina, Spartans defense struggled to stop junior running back, Kylan Polk, plus others in the backfield, who ran for 405 yards on 44 carries. Forest Hills gained an additional 112 passing yards while the Spartans struggled and had only 64 yards on 16 carries on the ground.
Offensive lineman, Matthew Worley (‘27), reflected on the loss.
“I think we did a good job at limiting mistakes, but defensively we could do a little bit better stopping the run game,” Matthew Worley said.
The final score was Forest Hills 36 – 25 in favor of the Yellow Jackets.
As August turned to September, CSD welcomed South Mecklenburg for its first home game of the season and fell short 16–13 behind unfortunate turnovers and missed field goals and conversions.
While throwing two touchdown passes, Spartans quarterback, Ty Sigler also threw two interceptions, the first coming when his receiver slipped running his route and the second came heading into halftime.
For the final whistle, Sigler completed 16 passes for 143 yards.
The Spartans defense, led by seniors, Greg Jones (‘26) and Tyler Johnson (‘26), had 11 and 10 tackles respectively,
But it was the Sabres and their 146 passing yards on top of 89 rushing yards that led to the win.
Senior co-captain, Greg Jones was one reason the Sabres didn’t gain more yards.
“I think I did well on keeping my line sealed off. As for the team, we still need to work on tackling and getting them to the ground,” Greg Jones said.
After a bye on Friday, September 19, 2025, CSD then stays on the road with games against Christ the King on Friday, September 26, 2025, in its first conference game of the season, then Lake Norman Charter on October 3, 2025.
