Community School of Davidson (CSD) senior Benjamin (Mack) Sidden (‘25) is a freelance sports photographer who has found a home along the baselines at basketball games and sidelines of football games. After transferring to CSD from Davidson Day in 2023 Mack has made quite the name for himself with his outstanding action photographs. On social media, his new Instagram page (_madebymack) already boasts more than 300 followers. To get to know Mack better, he answered questions for the CSD Spartan Questionnaire.

Pancakes or waffles?
Waffles. My Grandma made the best waffles when I was growing up and they’ve always tasted better in my opinion.
Favorite sports team?
Philidelphia 76’ers. My Mom is from Philly.
What’s one thing you really like about CSD?
The community. Everyone is like a family and it’s a cool place with a nice environment.
Favorite photograph you’ve done?
The Pine Lake basketball game was a crazy and fun atmosphere to be at and to capture cool moments there.
Dream event to photograph?
Duke v UNC cause I’m a Duke fan because my Dad went there.
Best advice?
“Focus on creating art not just taking pictures.” My mentor, Matthew Barnes, who is friends with my brother, said that.

Kanye West. I really enjoy his music.

Favorite song?
“White Ferrari,” by Frank Ocean
Favorite holiday?
Thanksgiving because my whole family comes together to celebrate and its nice to see them again after a long time being apart.

I take the pictures I want to create.

“Revenge of Sith” because I’m a Star Wars fan.
