Community School of Davidson (CSD) junior, and Carolina Diving Academy Elite Diver, Addison Nardone, is dedicated, ambitious and talented. She came to CSD sophomore year and her favorite class is APUSH. She enjoys taking her dog on walks, cooking and ceramics. In this uniquely structured Spartan Questionnaire, Addison sits down to answer Avery Nardone’s (yes, her twin sister’s) pressing questions. Addison provides insight into the harsh world of balancing school and athletics as well as how having a twin sister affects her life. She addresses overcoming fear, diving and her own personal quirks.
How would you describe being a twin?
Creates a struggle to identify as an individual. Dealing with the constant comparison is something I’m used to but can be annoying.
What do you tell yourself when facing challenges in your sport?
I tell myself to ‘keep going’ and remind myself of my end goals and purpose
How do you feel about competing in the same sport as your twin sister?
It definitely increases the level of competition and leaves a lot of room for comparison from ourselves or others
What is your favorite dive?
105B (front 2.5 sommersaults pike) off 3 meter springboard
If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life what would it be?
“The Parent Trap”
What is your greatest fear?
Failure
How would you compare your idea of success today to those of your younger self?
I have higher expectations of myself now in school and athletic performance.
Is there anything you wish you could change about your past?
No. I don’t think about the past in a regretful way. My past has formed who I am today and not living with regret is freeing.
What television show defined your childhood?
“The Suite Life of Zack and Cody”
What’s something your previous sport, gymnastics, taught you?
It taught me how to persevere and that overcoming obstacles makes you a better athlete.
You’re deserted on an island and you can only bring three things, what are they?
My emotional support water bottle, a bikini, and EOS vanilla lotion
Who’s an inspirational figure to you?
My mom
Inspirational athlete?
Simone Biles
What’s something you’ve learned in the past year?
Everything happens for a reason
Writers note: I enjoyed interviewing Addison and as her twin sister. I knew her answer to the questions before she’d answered.
